My inspirational photographer is Jasper James. The reason to why I am in love with his photos is because of how he overlays his pictures. He will take a portrait of a person and place it over a landscape image (usually of a city). He has so many stunning landscape photos because he has lived all around the world from New York to London to Beijing. The final product of this has a beautiful look. Each photo is interesting because this style of photography you can't just look at it and move on, it really catches your eye. You look deeply into the photo because of the mix it makes you look at both the images. When you take a closer look it really makes you have an appreciation for the photo. Not only is the portiarate of the human really beautiful, the landscape images are beyond belief. It truly is remarkable work and he is the man who inspired many others to try this style. Hes been involved with photography for about 20 years. he spent three years on the London College of Printing photography degree course in the early 90's, followed by five years working as a photo assistant to various photographers in London and New York. For the past twelve years he has been working as a photographer in various different areas of commercial photography, including portraiture, interiors, fashion, travel and advertising. James says “ I hope that in living a just and good life it will come through in my work and inspire those who see it to respect and help preserve that which cannot be replaced.” You can tell by the way he speaks he is very passionate by his work.

About His City Silhouettes Series

"The series City Silhouettes came about from travelling around various Asian cities, particularly Tokyo and Shenzhen. It was a case of trying to make images that played with the emotions and ideas that wandering around these mega-cities brought up. I knew I wanted to make some photos high above that played with the vast scale of the city but I was also interested in the mass of people that live and work in these cities. I thought it would be more interesting to try and combine the two in one image. From there it was a case of playing around with ideas until I hit upon something that I thought worked visually.”

Did someone say romance in the city? This is one of many of his pictures, all of the same style yet different landscapes and silhouette. What is beautiful about this story is how its a mix of two photos with one being a romantic couple. Romance is appealing to everyone so not only is it an interesting photo it also can tell a story. Storytelling is what james goes for. Saying the city is big and the people are small, when you are with your significant other you feel like you could conquer the world together

Who is the man in the hat? hmm mysterious. I love in this photo how outside the silhouette instead of it being whited out like the last photo this photo has a light touch of white faded into itself. I think it a really nice touch for it gives you the image of the rest of the landscape and allows you to look deeper into the image.

This photo is my favorite. I love how this isn't two photos but three. Its amazing how he could make it work. He has to line up the shot between the the plane and hand. Putting the hand in the foreground and having to aline the plane to fit the finger, you only have a second to get that shot and he did it perfectly. What is the story behind this one, whos on the plane? where is it going?

This is my attempt to replicate the photo. What was done here was all taken on the camera, within my camera I found that there was a overlapping function that allowed double exposure. This made the project a lot easier so I didn't have to fool around as much in photoshop. I took the picture of the clouds at the end of my lake & the photo of my friend and the camera did its magic. After that I placed it into photoshop to tweak the lighting to make it have more of a dramatic feel. I really like the outcome of this photo. I couldn't fully replicate jasper due to the fact that I don't have access of a town I can shoot.
